World Telecommunication and Information Society Day: 17th May 2016

World Telecommunication And Information Society Day

Today marks the annual international WTISD, this year themed with ‘ICT Entrepreneurship for Social Impact’.

The event aims to highlight the importance of the roles of small and medium-sized businesses in the ICT sector in achieving sustainable global economic growth which is inclusive in its approach. WTISD looks to encourage enterprises across the world to develop innovative ICT solutions which have a lasting impact in our economies and provide a valuable source of work for young people.

WTISD is promoted by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), a United Nations agency which develops telecommunications and ICT to connect the world, supporting the rights of people to communicate with each other.

Legacy’s social commitment

As a telecoms expert, Legacy supports WTISD. But what can we do on a local level? An important part of our work is the recycling and safe disposal of equipment to reduce waste and support businesses which need a more cost-effective telecoms solution.

We purchase used, surplus or redundant telecoms equipment, repairing and refurbishing it to extend its life and bring it back into use, particularly where equipment is no longer supported by manufacturers. Where we need to dispose of telecoms equipment, we provide a safe, secure and environmentally-sound route for recycling wherever possible.

We are interested in:

  • Complete telecoms systems
  • Digital and IP telephones
  • Headsets
  • Conference units

Do you have telecoms equipment no longer in use? We buy Avaya, Cisco, Ericsson, Mitel, Nortel, Plantronics, Polycom and Siemens in particular.
